Gun Control Policy Issues

The first major gun issue was in 1934. It just regulated the sale of firearms. One of the biggest bills to be passed was the "Brady Bill" it was "named for the press aide who was seriously injured in the assassination attempt on President Regan imposed a five day waiting period for purchasers of handguns" (Policy 1). A big thing that was required was a Child Prevention law. Which required loaded guns to be out of reach for minors. A lot of families in the U.S. have guns. It is said in 1994 "about 35% of American households own 192 million firearms of which handguns constituted 35% of total" (Policy 3). the U.S. has the most guns than any other country. Most of the homicides are because of drugs.

Finishing this was a great article. it helped me to know what actions the law is taking toward the gun controls. I think the government has done a good job with the laws and have tried to make cut backs and to try and make everyone happy.

Gun Control

Year after year people always ask should guns be controlled. There are two different opinions. The National Rifle Association (NRA) is against more federal regulations. The group that is in favor of more federal regulations is Handgun control (the Brady Center). One of the NRA argues about is "the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution guarantees individuals the right to own and carry guns. (Gun Control 1)The Brady Center, on the other hand does not guarantee individuals the right to own or carry a gun. They argue that the more people that have guns, the higher the death and injury rate goes. Both sides agree that the final meaning of the second amendment us the U.S. supreme Court. The court said on June 6,2008 "the supreme court made a landmark ruling upholding the right of individuals to bear arms for hunting and for self defense" (gun control 2).

The reason I chosen this is because to relates to my topic very well. It shows how the two sides (NRA and the Brady Center) have stated their arguments and how they have faught agianst each other. It shows about the NRA fighting for what they think is right and the Brady Center argued for what they believed in. What do you think should be done with guns?
